BRASS

SILVER 925

THE ENAMELS

What is it
Brass is an oxidizable alloy composed of a part of zinc (from 15 to 30%) and a part of copper (from 70 to 85%). Brass is one of the preferred materials for creating hypoallergenic jewelry without nickel or lead. Compared to copper, it has a double advantage: greater hardness and better resistance.

Advantages

  1. It is an inexpensive metal that gives me the opportunity to experiment with the use of cubic zirconia and enamels to embellish it, using techniques normally used in jewelry such as pre-setting stones and all the soldering of rings that are commonly not done in costume jewelry.
  2. It does not contain NICKEL and therefore, despite the thick 18kt gold plating that covers it, it does not cause problems for allergic people.

  3. It oxidizes, but not too quickly: oxidation is a natural process of the metal, therefore, if left in your jewelry case or left on display for a long time, it tends to darken.

Value

Brass is a fantastic metal with which you can create truly unique jewelry, a metal to be discovered.

What it is

"Enamel" is broadly defined as that particular technique which combines vitreous pastes with metal surfaces, used as a support, through a kiln fusion process or through opaque or transparent liquid paints. Arising from the need to add "color" to precious metals, it is therefore a technique that lies between that of glass and goldsmithing.

What it is

925 silver is an alloy made mainly of silver with the addition of copper. Most of the silver used to create precious objects and various jewelry is called 925 silver (one of the most commonly used grades along with 800 silver). It is an interesting combination of metals that makes silver more durable and even more valuable. It has this designation because it is made up of 92.5% silver and the remaining 7.5% copper.

Properties

The main property of 925 silver is its malleability. This means that the chances of it being damaged over the years are quite high. It should also be noted that this material, at room temperature, can soften sooner than expected. To avoid such problems, in general, it is enough to add other metals to pure silver, with the aim of obtaining a highly resistant combined metal against deterioration.

Value

925 silver is easily recognizable, compared to those with a lower grade, by its shine. Naturally, the value of 925 silver depends directly on that of pure metal, the price of which is determined twice a day at the London Stock Exchange and set by the major operators who carry out transactions on the white metal.

In other words, 925 silver combines beauty and quality, shine and sobriety, for jewelry that is pleasing to the eye and uplifting for the mood.
